MAYOR GARCETTI AND LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS BREAK GROUND ON HISTORIC LAX AIRPORT TRAIN
(Los Angeles, CA) Mayor Eric Garcetti today broke ground on the Automated People Mover (APM), a train which will connect travelers directly to airport terminals and create new and convenient locations for passenger pick-up and drop-off outside the Central Terminal Area. The historic infrastructure project will transform public transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and deliver a world-class experience for travelers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

LAX Flyaway Westwood Service to Relocate Operations Closer to UCLA Campus on March 18
(Los Angeles, CA) On Monday, March 18, the FlyAway® bus stop in Westwood will move to its new location on Galey Avenue, just north of Strathmore Place on the east side of the street. The new location is adjacent to UCLA student housing and dormitories. Previously, the Westwood FlyAway® stop was a nearly 1-mile walk into Westwood Village from the campus. The new location's intersection also services Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) buses, Santa Clarita Transit, LADOT, Antelope Valley Transit Authority commuter express buses, the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Amtrak Thruway, and FlixBus long distance service.

LAWA Now Accepting Applications for Paid Summer Interns at LAX and Van Nuys Airports
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is seeking college students who want to gain hands-on experience working in one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic industries to apply for paid summer internships at Los Angeles International (LAX) and Van Nuys (VNY) airports. These internships provide valuable career-relevant experience at two of the busiest airports in the world of their types. To be eligible, undergraduate and graduate students must be at least 18 years old and available to work at least 20 hours a week for 16 weeks. Hourly rates for these positions start at $16.77.

Love Takes Flight at LAX, Couples Encouraged to Enter Valentine's Day Photo Contest Featuring Iconic Sign on Sepulveda Boulevard

LAX and the GRAMMY Museum® Showcase the Evolution of the GRAMMY®, Surprise Passengers in Terminal 2
(Los Angeles, CA) What do U2, Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen all have in common? They all have GRAMMY® Awards! And now Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) does, too – at least through the end of the year. Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) welcomed guests to LAX during a special GRAMMY Week® celebration to highlight a new exhibit showcasing the evolution of the GRAMMY® Award through the years, complete with cases displaying five statues from the collection at the GRAMMY Museum®. The exhibit can be found in LAX’s Terminal 2 under the stairwell access to airline lounges. LAX is the first airport to host an exhibit in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum®.

STRUCTURE DEMOLISHED IN PREPARATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAX AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER
(Los Angeles, CA) Marking a new phase of construction at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the first structure was demolished to allow for the construction of the Automated People Mover (APM) guideway. LAX Integrated Express Solution (LINXS), the developer of the APM, successfully demolished the former Burger King property on the corner of 96th St. and Airport Blvd. The demo was completed on Jan. 28 and took less than six hours to complete. Construction on the APM itself is scheduled to begin this spring.
