All operations have returned to normal at Terminal 1 of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

LAX Terminal 1 Update
This morning, at approximately 5:30 a.m., all passengers and employees in Terminal 1 of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) were asked to exit the secure area of the terminal to be rescreened. This action was taken at the direction of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and out of an abundance of caution, due to the disruption of power experienced by LAX the previous evening.

LAX Power Disruption Update
This evening at 6:29 p.m., Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced a significant power disruption that caused the loss of power to the entire Central Terminal Area (CTA). This occurred due to a power "bump" at an off-airport Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) substation, which caused a power disruption throughout the airport.

LAWA Announces the Retirement of Chief Operating Officer Samson Mengistu
(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced the retirement of Chief Operating Officer Samson Mengistu. His retirement comes after a 30-year career at the City of Los Angeles, more than 25 of them at LAWA. He has served under four Los Angeles mayors, and numerous Airport Commissions and LAWA administrations.

SUCCESS! PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVED FROM LAX CENTRAL TERMINAL AREA
(Los Angeles, CA) Following two nights of painstakingly precise work, construction crews have successfully removed the pedestrian bridge between Terminal 6 and Parking Structure 6 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), marking a major milestone in the construction of an Automated People Mover, slated to open in 2023. The work was completed in a way that minimized the impact on airport guests, with complete closures of the roadway taking place after 2 a.m., during the time period with the fewest vehicles.

LAWA and Edge4Vets Connect Veterans with Hiring Managers to Leverage Military Experience in Civilian Job Market
(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Edge4Vets continued their partnership to connect military servicemen and women with jobs at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Going beyond the expectations of a conventional job fair, Edge4Vets brings veterans and hiring professionals together for a substantive discussion that highlights how veterans can discuss their military service with companies that are looking for skilled and motivated applicants. Seminar attendees connected with 20 representatives from 12 airport employers. In total, 26 people participated in today's program by attending the in-person training session or completing coursework online.

This includes the ability to pre-order food and shop online by viewing products and menus for numerous restaurants and retail stores at LAX. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) created the upgraded experience in partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports.
